Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…..dah dah de dah dah, you know the rest, come on sing along! Well we at DVB Show HQ are definitely full of the joys of musical theatre and it’s all down to a few of our favourite things coming to the show in October.
“My name is Becky Henderson, and I own Laurel Lime and Love thy Vintage which specialises in vintage and vintage inspired bridal jewellery and accessories. The business has been running for 5 years now, and started out as an online boutique. Since then, I have worked with many brides more personally who like to see and try on my collection and visit me at my home for consultations. This also allows me to cater for brides who prefer a bespoke service. I consider myself very lucky to be able to do something I love as a job!
“Why Vintage? Hmmm, I have always made jewellery, and when I was young my mum had a ‘make do and mend’ philosophy. She was always scouring local fairs and car boot sales with my sister and I; and after many years of refusing anything but ‘new’ I finally returned to my love of ‘second hand’ and vintage. To me the word vintage means memories, romance and unique style. And I would hope that others would love vintage for its distinctive style, superb quality (to have lasted so long), and sustained elegance.
“For the 2012 bride, I think that the Royal Wedding this year will have an impact on styles for the next twelve months, and brides can expect some elegant and sophisticated looks with a lot of Victorian romance.
“I had planned to attend as an exhibitor to the first Designer Vintage Bridal Show and unfortunately came down with illness a couple of days before, so I was very disappointed to miss it. I did send my husband to the show and the first thing he said to me when he got back was ‘WOW, you missed a great show!’
