Focus On…Lucy Ledger Designs
We fell in love with Lucy Ledger when she joined us at our first show in February this year. Not only is she back but she’s literally bigger and better than ever before. Since her last visit Lucy expecting a patter of tiny feet and we send her massive congratulations and no doubt will be visiting her stand, not only to stand in awe at her amazing stationery but to have a little ‘oo’ and ‘aw’ at her baby bump! You can read all about Lucy on her beautifully honest blog, but for now here’s what she had to say about coming to our show this weekend…
“I am Lucy Ledger, I have been a professional illustrator and graphic designer for 10 years and I own Lucy Ledger Designs; a design company that specialises in creating nostalgia inspired scrapbook style wedding stationery. The style at Lucy Ledger Designs provokes a fun and informal feeling that will let guests know they are in for a very personal and unforgettable day. I have been in business since March 2010 and I have worked with a wide range of couples that have unique and creative ideas for their big day. It is a real privilege to be part of such a special time and I have loved working with each and every one of my brides and grooms for their originality and character.
“I absolutely LOVE all things vintage and have done since I moved into my little 17th century cottage five years ago. It was a joy to decorate and I spent hours scouring antique and junk shops to find quirky pieces of furniture to fill it. The cottage’s character and charm provides huge inspiration for my designs. The idea for vintage style stationery came from a scrapbook my Nan gave to me- it was filled with hundreds of vintage cards from the turn of the 20th century- a time when giving a card was a gift in itself. This book was such an inspiration because not only did these cards have such a warmth about them, the way they were presented in this scrapbook made it look more like a memory book which I thought was a perfect style for wedding stationery. That is the style I adopted for my wedding and the signature style I use throughout Lucy Ledger Designs.
“The vintage trend will still be strong in 2012 but I feel it will develop and take on different quirks of it’s own. I think junk shop chic will be big as I have recently worked with a lot of couples who want their wedding to represent a collective of who they are rather than just focussing on a certain era. The wedding industry is very exciting at the moment and there seems to be no limitations on colour and style, brides and grooms are embracing what they want on a personal level rather than following formal traditions and I love it!
“I exhibited at the February show and loved every minute! I spent hours talking to prospective brides and grooms and enjoyed meeting creative and imaginative couples. I felt there was a fantastic atmosphere and a very high standard of supplier – when I had a moment to wander around I was amazed at the quality. I am very excited to be back and do it all again in October!”
